Thrive by the Fire
Learn about, talk about, and explore ways to support mental health this Thrive month!

Connect, meet new people, and take time to unwind, and check out the Thrive resource booths. Make sure you also come with the title of your go-to song that helps you to thrive to add to our community playlist!

This year’s Thrive by the Fire performers are:
We’re thrilled to announce this year’s talented line-up of student performers from Blank Vinyl Project:
Lizzy Disolved
Lizzy Dissolved delivers the gritty charm of 2000s indie rock fused with a pulse of psychedelic groove. It’s like seeing your ex-girlfriend’s boyfriends’ band in your best friends garage
Sundrawn
Retrieved from the archives, Sun Drawn, a four piece outfit, describes their surroundings via sonic emanations. With a whimsical yet heavy sound, Sun drawn captures their audience with harmonic interludes and art-pop call-backs. Described in lilypad mag as “kinda weird” and “non-existent” Sundrawn’s 2023 debut album: Bingo Slot Golf Club, topped charts across Baffin Island and adjacent land masses
Tiger Really
Starting out as a stupid pun on the name of a flower, Tiger Really has since transformed from a bedroom project to one of the most exciting and unique bands the Vancouver scene has to offer. Fronted by songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Lian Shao, the band has carved out a niche for themselves by mixing emo with elements of jazz, punk, and indie rock, creating a sound that is both distinct and deeply resonant.
Elle Savage
my name is elle victoria, i’m a singer/songwriter from a small town in ontario. i grew up writing music and playing guitar with my dad, and it has since turned into a lifelong passion. my songs are all written based off of my poems and journal entries! this is only my second show with BVP and i’m so excited to be a part of it.
Shane Garner
My name is Shane Floyd and I am an indie/folk songwriter from Vancouver. My music is largely influenced by John Martyn, Nick Drake, and Alex G. I am very excited for the release of my second album which is set to be in winter 2024.
Sylvie Cox
Sylvie Cox is a multi-instrumentalist and producer who writes lush, sun-kissed pop rock, inspired by growing up between San Francisco and the Greek island of Paros.
About
The first Thrive by the Fire started as a pop-up style outdoor music event held on UBC Vancouver Campus, at the end of November to coincide with UBC Thrive month. Now an annual autumn celebration, Thrive by the Fire is hosted by UBC Inspired (part of UBC Campus + Community Planning) in collaboration with UBC Wellbeing and the student-run live-music organization, Blank Vinyl Project. All the talented performers you see at this event are UBC students!
